At the beginning of the year, many people made the resolution to read more. You may have been one of them, and as much as you really want to make it a goal to read, it is hard to pick up that book from the shelf. The problem could simply be the reading material. While it may not be wise to start your reading with something as hefty and metaphorical as Moby Dick, here is a short list of classic books that is certain to spark your love of reading.

Don Quixote

If you are wanting to read a novel that paints a picture of adventure and heroism, then pick up Don Quixote. One Hundred Years of Solitude

Published in 1967, One Hundred Years of Solitude was written by Gabriel García Márquez. Recounting the lives of seven generations of the Buendía family, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a prime example of how folktales and myth play a powerful part in history telling in the Latin American culture. This novel examines magic realism.

Mrs. Dalloway

A great story can take place in a day, and that is exactly what happens in Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway.
