The 2022 Ford EcoSport is making its last hurrah stateside. The Brazilian bestseller and the vehicle that started the demand for small SUVs has several new features to entice buyers looking for a B-segment model.
It is easy to take around the city with its compact size and drives tall for a small SUV with its high-riding position.
Come to Canton Ford here at 17849 Interstate 20 in Canton, Texas, so you can see and test drive the new EcoSport.
Ford built the 2022 EcoSport for functionality and to smartly utilize all the interior space.
What stands out is the 8-inch colored and capacitive touch screen that already sports SYNC 3. It comes with enhanced voice control to allow passengers to access vehicle features like climate control and audio using voice commands.
Techies will love Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ when they plug smartphones via the USB ports right behind the center console.
It will seat five adults but could get cramped for three in the second row. The cargo hold can take in five overnight bags for trips out of town.
There are also plenty of storage spaces for loose change, drinks, and other small items you bring around.
The 2022 Ford EcoSport underwent a modernization program in 2017 and received a new engine, exterior niceties, and additional tech goodies.
While the overall shape and structure have not changed, new aesthetics now make it look like a proper subcompact SUV and less like a Fiesta on stilts.
It now has larger projector-beam headlamps with auto on/off function and also comes with halogen daytime running lamps. The new grille and hood in front give it more personality and a more handsome face.
The new 17-inch alloy wheels are lighter, which makes the EcoSport easier to handle and more fuel efficient.

Ford dropped the 1.0L EcoBoost engine from the 2022 Ford EcoSport. It only comes with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 166 horsepower and 149 pound-feet of torque. The output is more than enough for city driving.
The six-speed automatic transmission feels much better than the dual-clutch in the old EcoSport. Sans any shift shock, it provides much smoother acceleration that makes it slightly quicker from a standstill compared to the previous gearbox.
Its compact size makes it a joy to maneuver because you can squeeze in and out of so many tight situations in traffic you’ll end up forgetting how to do 3-point turns.
NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels are decent considering the large alloy wheels, and the suspension feels more robust and resistant to the punishing road surfaces.
It may not be an all-new model, but the updates are significant enough to justify why it continues to be a favorite among the local Ford models.
The second and final generation of the EcoSport is here and ready to take you on a fun and exciting drive.
